Jared Diamond Reading List

Jared Mason Diamond is an American geographer, historian, anthropologist, and author best known for his popular science books The Third Chimpanzee; Guns, Germs, and Steel; Collapse, The World Until Yesterday, and Upheaval.(wikipedia)

Guns, Germs, and Steel was one of the great non fiction reading events of my life. It changed my perspective on almost everything. For me, it was one of the first great "big idea" histories that looked at the past from a larger, bird's eye view and utilized a multi disciplinary approach to understanding the jigsaw puzzle of global history. Most importantly, it shows the importance of geography in shaping the growth of culture and the distribution of wealth and political power in the modern world.
